REUNION 2008 IS GONNA BE GREAT
Time has a way of going by so quickly. That’s why it is so important for us to take advantage of the remaining opportunities we have of coming together with our 3/5 Marine brothers and their spouses, children, and friends. Now is the time! So…… don’t miss this very special occasion.
Make your room reservation now at the Fredericksburg Hospitality House and Conference Center by calling (800) 682-1049 or (540) 786-8321. Let them know that you are with the 3/5 2008 Marine Reunion. The per-night charge is $109.40 (includes tax) which should be paid directly to the hotel. The Fredericksburg Hospitality House is our reunion headquarters hotel and the location of our hospitality room. Busses for our various events will leave from and return to this hotel.
As we all know, the escalating cost of fuel has pretty much increased the price of most everything, especially food and travel. However, through negotiations, some begging and expected contributions, we have been able to keep reunion costs as low as possible.
The details have been worked out for our September 19, 20 and 21 Reunion and the following lists our schedule of activities.
Thursday, September 18
Early registration begins at the headquarters hotel on Thursday at 1:00pm.
The Hospitality Room will also open at 1:00pm.
Friday, September 19
Registration is from 9:00am to 4:00pm.
The Hospitality Room opens at 9:00am.
Our private reception at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico is from 5:30pm to 9:30pm. Since the Museum will have their Tunn Tavern (drinks only) and Mess Hall (food and drink) facilities open from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, plan on having your drinks and meal at the Museum at your expense. The Museum store will also be open during the first hour of our visit.
Busses will leave the headquarters hotel at 5:00pm and return at 10:00pm.
Your share of the cost for transportation and rental of the Museum is $10.00 per person.
Saturday, September 20
Out bus trip to Washington, DC will leave the headquarters hotel at 9:00am and will return at 3:00pm. We will be visiting the Vietnam Memorial Wall, the Korean War Memorial, the World War II Memorial and the Iwo Jima Memorial in Arlington.
The cost of the bus trip to DC is $20.00 per person.
Our reunion banquet is from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at the Clubs at Quantico which is a very impressive facility. We have a great program planned for this special evening. There will be a cash bar available throughout the evening. The social hour is from 5:00pm until 6:00pm. Dinner runs from 6:00pm through 9:00pm.
Select one of three entrees:
- Baked Flounder
- Chicken Sicilian
- Vegetarian Lasagna
All meals include salad, dinner rolls, vegetable medley, oven roasted potatoes, crème brulee cheesecake, coffee and iced tea.
The cost of the meal is $25.00 per person.
Sunday, September 21
Our farewell gathering takes place in the headquarters hotel hospitality room from 9:00am to 11:00am.
Our wrap-up session to plan for the next reunion is from 11:00am to 12 noon in the hospitality room.
